Size Guide - Bedding
Bedding sizes aren't standardised internationally – a "single" duvet cover in Sweden is a different size from a "single" in the UK or the US, and pillow sizes vary even more. This guide shows Midnatt's sizes in centimetres and inches side by side, so you can find the right fit wherever you're shopping from.
Duvet cover sizes
A single/twin duvet cover is most commonly 140×200 cm (55×79″).
Midnatt duvet covers come in four sizes, from a single bed to a large double/king duvet:
- Single bed: 140×200 cm (55×79″) or 150×200 cm (59×79″), depending on your duvet.
- Double bed: either two single duvet covers, or one double duvet cover – 200×200 cm (79×79″) or 240×220 cm (94×87″).

Fitted sheet sizes
Choose a fitted sheet with the same width as your mattress – all Midnatt fitted sheets are 200 cm (79″) long.
Our elasticated fitted sheets are made for beds and mattresses 200 cm (79″) long. Width varies from 90 cm (35″) to 180 cm (71″), depending on whether you have a single, a wider single, or a double bed. All our fitted sheets have elasticated edges and around 35 cm (14″) of extra fabric all round, so the sheet tucks in easily, lies flat and stays put overnight.
| Width | Length | Elastic skirt |
|---|---|---|
| 90 cm (35″) | 200 cm (79″) | 35 cm (14″) |
| 105 cm (41″) | 200 cm (79″) | 35 cm (14″) |

Flat sheet – a classic sheet with no elastic
A flat sheet has no elastic and fits more bed sizes, including king size.
It's easy to make the bed with and suits several bed sizes. Unlike our largest fitted sheet, the flat sheet also works for extra-long beds and king-size mattresses – perfect if you want a soft, generous sheet with plenty of fabric to tuck in.
| Flat sheet | Width | Length | Fits beds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult | 260 cm (102″) | 260 cm (102″) | 180–210 cm (71–83″) wide |
Children's bedding
Our Midnatt Mini line lets you match bedding across the whole family, with duvet covers, pillowcases and a fitted sheet for cots, cribs and prams. The duvet cover and pillowcase are sold as a set, and the sheet is a flat sheet measuring 90×150 cm (35×59″), which fits anything from small baby beds and prams to toddler beds, depending on how much fabric you tuck under the mattress.
| Set | Duvet cover | Pillowcase |
|---|---|---|
| Crib (Swedish standard) | 70×80 cm (28×31″) | 28×35 cm (11×14″) |
| Cot (Swedish standard) | 110×125 cm (43×49″) | 35×55 cm (14×22″) |
| Cot (Danish standard) | 100×140 cm (39×55″) | 40×45 cm (16×18″) |

Frequently asked questions about bedding sizes
What size is a standard single/twin duvet cover?
A single or twin duvet is most commonly 140×200 cm (55×79″), matching the standard single/twin mattress size across most of Europe, the UK, the US and Australia. If your duvet is 150×200 cm (59×79″) – common in Sweden and Finland – size up to match.
What size duvet cover do I need for a double or queen bed?
For a double or queen bed, you can either use two single duvet covers (140×200 cm / 55×79″ each – common in Germany and France) or one large duvet cover, 200×200 cm (79×79″) or 240×220 cm (94×87″, common in Scandinavia). Either works – it's a matter of preference.
What's the difference between a duvet and a duvet cover?
The duvet is the filled, insulating layer you sleep under. The duvet cover is the fabric casing – usually with a zip or buttons – that goes over it to protect it and make washing easier. Choose a duvet cover the same size as your duvet for the best fit.
What's the standard pillow size where I live?
It depends on the country: 50×60 cm (20×24″) is standard across Scandinavia, 80×80 cm (31×31″) and 40×80 cm (16×31″) in Germany and Austria, 65×65 cm (26×26″) in France, and roughly 50×65–75 cm in the US and UK. See the country and international tables above for the closest Midnatt match.
How do I know which fitted sheet size to choose?
Choose a fitted sheet with the same width as your mattress. All Midnatt fitted sheets are 200 cm (79″) long with a 35 cm (14″) elastic skirt, and come in widths from 90 cm (35″) to 180 cm (71″).
What is a flat sheet, and when should I use one instead of a fitted sheet?
A flat sheet has no elastic and is more versatile than a fitted sheet, fitting extra-wide or long beds, including king size. Midnatt's flat sheet measures 260×260 cm (102×102″) and fits beds 180–210 cm (71–83″) wide.
Which Midnatt size matches a UK/US/AU king or queen bed?
A UK Super King, EU Grand King, or US/AUS King mattress is closest to Midnatt's 180×200 cm (71×79″) fitted sheet, or the 260×260 cm (102×102″) flat sheet for extra-wide or long beds. A US/AUS Queen or UK/EU King matches the 160×200 cm (63×79″) fitted sheet.
